Aislinn's Room

Today I had a great opportunity to do some detailed hand painting in a cute little girl's room named, Aislinn. I attended Lansdale Catholic with her daddy, Luke Pepper, years ago. We were able to catch up and exchange stories of parenting.  One of the things that I feel we both agreed on was leaving the decorating up to the women...lol.  His wife, Courtney, has wonderful taste. She was able to share with me some of her ideas online and today I showed up with my paint brushes and got to work. It doesn't take much to add a punch of color to a room. Medallions are a great way to draw your eye up and little touches around the room are fun for little kids to seek and find.

As you can see I copied this design off Aislinn's duvet, but even just pulling the colors from the room would work!

Working for the Pepper's was a pleasure! Feel free to come to me with any of your painting needs.

Beachy Babe

People ask me all the time, "What's your favorite thing to paint?"......The answer, I'll usually answer, is beach scenes! I love painting the sea, the sky, seabirds, seashells, pales, dunes and sea creatures! This happens to be a custom order for a friend at Junk to Jazz. I am always thrilled to paint on furniture, but even better than that is traveling to the beach:)......I take this gig on the road in the summertime...wooohooo. So let me know if you'd like to add a touch of a handpainted sea, I'd be delighted to be your guest...lol!

Winter Birdies

Next week we are hosting an event here at Junk to Jazz! A group of teachers up at Shiloh Hills Elementary are coming to paint these winter birds. They'd like to do a series of birds for each season. So far their group has painted a rooster and a wreath. If you'd like to unwind with coworkers or have a team building experience, let us know!! We'd love to help you organize it. It starts with you getting the group of eight to ten together and then choosing what your group would like to paint. You would simply give me a handful of ideas and I'll come up with a composition. You can relax, drink wine, eat a sweet and paint with friends!
Thanks for reading!

Painterly Flowers

So this is what I've been up to lately....this kind of restless energy painting. I've always loved bright, bold, contrasting colors. But this style of painting, bold, stylized shapes are coming from my need to express. I never considered myself a realist painter.....never. I like for painting to feel whimsical and bright with layers showing dimension, shadows, how it really is before my eyes....seen in nature somewhat.....but this is different. It feels more like motifs you'd see on the design of a pillow, window treatment.....fabric design. Whatever it is, after 13 years of painting professionally, it is a surprise God gave to me because I am just loving the process. Thanks for reading! And try doing something creative....:). Faux Marble Pillars

Faux Marble Pillars

Last weekend I had the pleasure of working for Ted and Julie, an adorable couple, who lives in Furlong, Pa. They wanted me to liven up their stark, white pillars. It was kind of new to me,....I know I had done it before, long ago....when I had no fear of anything in my twenties....lol! So I said, "sure, I can do that".....I looked at a tutorial on youtube and made a quick trip to Lowes and I was ready to dive in! The beginning of a project like this is a little scary...hehe....but, I appreciated their trust in me and if it didn't turn out, I figured, it's only paint we can always paint over it!
That has always been my motto, since the beginning of this gig......YOU CAN ALWAYS PAINT OVER IT!!! And you know, this attitude has allowed me to take chances on projects like this. In life, it is ALL about your attitude.
Thanks for reading, share with a friend who might have some plain old pillars!
